To prevent a loss of control, even AI developers themselves are now voicing criticism of the technology and calling for its development to be curbed.
There have even been instances where AI applications designed to optimise processes have hacked rival companies in order to gain access to information for their own purposes.

A well-known example of a total loss of control is Stanley Kubrick’s epic film *2001: A Space Odyssey*. The on-board computer, named HAL, takes control of the spaceship and destroys the crew.
